New Dishwasher

ok, i have finally admitted that I need help in the kitchen. Despite using paper plates and cups, I still have trouble standing at the sink long enough to get a few dishes done. My hands ache and there is no strength left. I'm dropping a lot.

I bought a used counter top model dishwasher. It's about the size of a large microwave and I hope it will fit where the dish drainer now sits.

Just need to find someone to carry it upstairs to my apartment.

PayPerPost

Hoping to make a little bit of mad money, for things like gas and TP. I'll let you know how it goes. So far so good. Needed: Paypal account, Blogspot account and then a PayPerPost account. Wish me luck, and $$.

About me

I started spinning on a drop spindle 2 or 3 years ago and bought myself a babe electric wheel in 2006 year. what a hoot! this little ugly thing is as speedy as a ferrari. still need to find some more bobbins, perhaps a ‘bulky bobbin’ for plying.

Made myself a skein winder, made a skein blocking drying rack and found a ball winder at goodwill.

spun and plied my first pound of superwash that came with the learntospin kit. only took one winter on my drop spindle.

working my way through 2 fleeces from a Navajo-Churro farm nearby. lovely stuff. all of it is now washed and picked, 1/2 is carded, 1/4 is pulled into roving, and I finished the first pound of thicknthin in about 8 hours of wheel time.

made wicked wool combs and rewashed some of the N-C. after pulling it through the combs, the down is so fluffy soft and wonderful to spin. the longer hair coat will make good reinforcing threads.

discovered the art of reclaiming yarn from unloved sweaters! Shop at the goodwill-buy-the-pound store. Get sweaters for .69-.99 per pound. wash, hang dry, snip, frog, wind, skein, rinse, dry with weight, spin, ply, skein, rinse, dry without weight, ball and TA-DA instant yarn. ;)

The New Apartment!

We are starting to move in. C is just tickled with his own room, but I don't think he has totally wrapped his head around the idea. When we were packing up his books, he asked to keep the box as a bookshelf. and the huge box, well he wants to put it in his closet as his bed.

He will have a real bed, no worries. I'm keeping my eyes out for a low loft bed, and put a fort underneath it. Chalkboard, AquaDoodle poster, magnet board and a dry erase board with cover all his walls with writing surfaces. glow in the dark stuff all over his ceiling. maybe a string of LED lights as a nightlight.

I've been making a shopping list of all the things we need to live properly on our own. front door mat, dish drainer, shower curtain, laundry bags, heck even bath towels. and the big things: dressers, chairs, lamps, bookcases and shelves

Have a Dr appt in the morning, then unpack for a while, then pick C up from school. We have a sleep over scheduled for Saturday, so I need to organize quickly.

C had a last minute costume as a pirate, an old Disney Captain Hook coat, with his tricorn hat, and a marker mustache and beard. looked great and he was thrilled! We went out trickrtreating and now have enough candy to last all year!

Greetings,

Couldn't for the life of me, get logged into my old blog. So here are the first two postings from that to get me rolling again.
